Reading-Story of the week:Johnny Appleseed
Keep reading at home each night and make sure your child is recording the book on his/her reading log! When everyone has read 100 books, we will have a pizza party! BE SURE TO WRITE DOWN THE BOOKS YOU ARE READING AT HOME!!!

Writing- Author Study: We will be reading different Bible stories this week.
We are going to work on connecting our ideas to make our stories easier to read.

Math- We will continue our unit on measurement. This week, we will begin measuring with rulers! It’s always fun and exciting!!

Religion- We will study about the season of Lent this week.

Science- We will begin a chapter about the Earth’s resources. This week, we will learn about rocks and soil.

Things of Note:

Stations of the Cross every Friday during Lent in the church at 6 pm. This is one of my favorite services to attend during Lent. There will be a Lenten meal in the parish center following stations. It is always a great time- food, fun, and fellowship! I hope you will try to attend with your family one Friday- or more!  As an added bonus, I always give my students 10 extra points in Religion for attending Stations.

I hope to see everyone at the Spaghetti Dinner on Sunday, February 21 from 4 to 7 pm in the parish center. If you can’t stop in for dinner, there is take out available.

Has your family given something up, or added something to enhance your spiritual life during Lent? If not, please look for a sheet of suggestions in today’s folder. This is an excellent opportunity to teach your child about loving acts they can do. We have a 40 kind days bulletin board at school. The children will be allowed to put a cross up on the bulletin board each time they do something kind without being asked. I hope you can help with this at home. Thanks!
