Reading
Story of the week:
Ships
We will finish our first reading book with this story this week. I will be handing out new reading books next Friday. Overall, reading groups are going great! Almost all of the groups have moved up in reading levels, which is fantastic! Please practice the list of sight words I sent home this past week!

Writing
Author Study: Jan Brett
We are still working on writing stories with a beginning, middle, and end. This will be one of our longest writing units this year. Please practice the list of sight words I sent home in the folder this past week. You can make or buy flash cards for this. Learning these words is very important!!!

Math
We will begin subtraction next week. It will be a big switch from counting up. Please practice counting down from 10 every night with your child. I also ask that you please buy or make flash cards for subtraction and practice subtraction facts every night. (The Dollar Tree has addition and subtraction cards for $1.00)This will help you child so much. Thank you for your help!

Religion
We will begin learning about the Rosary. We will learn how to say the Rosary and practice saying it on Rosaries in class. We will also learn about the mysteries of the Rosary.

Science
We will be learning about the job of each part of a plant.
