Reading

Story of the week:
The Path on the Map
We will still be working on looking all the way through words and listening to ourselves to be sure what we say looks right and sounds right. We will be talking about the beginning, middle, and end of our stories; as well as how to help ourselves if something is tricky.

Writing
Author Study:
Marc Brown
We will begin working to make sure our stories have a beginning, middle, and end. We will use story maps to help us. We are also working on putting a capital letter at the beginning of a sentence, and capitalizing the word I.

Math
We are still learning addition strategies. We will have a test over addition on Wednesday, September 30. On Thursday, we will begin subtraction.
Religion
We will have a test over Chapter 4 on Monday, September 28. On Tuesday, we will begin learning about how Jesus teaches about love.

Science
We will begin learning about plants. We will learn what plants need to survive; the parts of a plant; and, the parts of a seed. We will even plant some seeds to see what grows!

Things of Note:
IC Fall Social and School Picnic on Sunday, September 27. Gates open at 3:00. Come out to Columbus Acres for lots of fun, food, and fellowship!


Reading Reviews are due on Friday!
In four weeks, I will begin taking grades on the Reading Review, so please use this time to practice having your child complete it and turn it in.

**Just a reminder that belts are a REQUIRED part of the uniform for boys. If girls wear shorts with belt loops, then belts must be worn. Please help your child remember to put their belt on.
