Reading
Story of the week:What Does Pig Do?
In reading groups, we are working on looking at the first letter of a word we don’t know, making the sound, then going back to the beginning of the sentence and re-reading while we think about what word would make sense.

Writing
Author Study this week: We will be reading Bible Stories this week.
We are still working on interactive writing this week.

Math-We will be doing some review, and practicing our addition facts. Please buy or make addition flash cards to practice at home.

Religion-We will learn Jesus works among the people.

Science- We will have a Chapter 2 Science test on Monday, September 20. After the test, we will begin a unit about animals.


Things of Note:


This week, I will be putting a percentage and letter grade on things that I would normally take grades on. This is to help give you an idea of how the grading will work at the beginning of the 2nd 9 weeks. Just a note: Right now I grade spelling according to the number of letters in the words. In the middle of the 2nd 9 weeks, I will begin to grade it by the correct spelling of each word.

Homework each night: Read a book
at home every night!!

Reading Review due by the following Friday.

We took our first dictation test in spelling today. On the dictation test, I am looking for a capital letter at the beginning of the sentence, a space between each word, each word spelled correctly, and a period at the end of the sentence. I count off points if any of the above things are missing/incorrect.
