Reading
Story of the week: Splash
When your child reads a book to you or you read a book to them, have them tell you the order of the story starting with the beginning, then the middle, and then the end. Try to encourage them to tell you details about the book too.
Writing
Author Study:
We will be reading about Pumpkins and Halloween!
We will still be working on putting our stories in order in the way they happened. Our focus will be finishing our stories with good endings.
Math
We will learn how to use doubles to add, how to solve a problem by drawing pictures, and then we will review using the strategies we have learned. We will have a test over addition strategies on Tuesday, November 3.
Religion
We will review important details about the Rosary on Monday. We will have a test over the Rosary on Tuesday, October 27. See study guide in today’s folder.
Science
Pumpkins, pumpkins, and more pumpkins! We will be doing tons of activities involving pumpkins this week.

Things of Note:
For older children and adults: LifeTeen is sponsoring “The Forest of Terror” at Columbus Acres. The cost is $5.00 per person and includes a guided tour through a haunted forest. The event will be held at Columbus Acres. It is open Oct 23, 24, 27, 28, 29, 30, and 31st. All proceeds go directly to support River Valley LifeTeen.
It promises to be a great scare!

Beginning this week, if a Reading Review is not turned in on Fridays each week, there will be 2 points deducted from the total amount possible (10). Since this week was a short week, the children who did not turn in their review may turn it in no later than Monday, October 26, with no deduction in points. Thank you for your help with this!
