Reading
Story of the week:
Quack We have started our reading groups! I am very proud of how well the kids are doing in their group. Ask your child what the name of their group is! We will still be working on looking all the way through words and listening to ourselves to be sure what we say looks right and sounds right.

Writing
Author Study: Mem Fox
We will review the things we have learned to do in writing so far: choose a topic; write only about our topic; think of details to add to our story; choose good details for our story; space between words; Capitalize the word I; and add an s to make a word plural.

Math
We will be learning different strategies to use when we add.

Religion
We are still learning about how Jesus grew up in a family. We will have a Religion test over Chapter 3 on Thursday, September 17.

Science
We will be learning about apples this week. On Friday, we will taste 3 different kinds of apples and graph our favorite.

Things of Note:

**PTO meeting on Monday, September 14 at 6:30 pm. One parent is required to attend.

**Individual pictures will be taken on Tuesday, September 15. Uniforms do not have to be worn on this day.

**IC Father/Daughter Dance on Saturday, September 12.
Reading Reviews are due on Friday!

We now have two separate spelling groups. Your child should study the spelling words for Group A unless I have notified you. Everyone is responsible for learning the sight word also. Thank you!

Remember: if you arrive at school after the crossing guards have gone in, you must go to the office for a tardy slip.
