Whew!

We survived the first week of first grade! It was a very busy week, and lots of fun. I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am to have your children this year. They are simply amazing!! We have done lots of read alouds; reading log practice; reading assessments; spelling assessments; math review; religion; and LOTS of rules and procedures. Below you will find the Becker Bunch News for next week. Have a wonderful weekend!

Spelling`I will be giving spelling assessments this next week. We will not begin having spelling words until the week of August 31- September 4. Our first spelling test will be on September 4.
Reading- This next week, the children will begin working in reading centers. While they work in centers, I will be completing reading assessments so that I can properly place your child in a reading group.
Writing- We are learning how ideas make a topic better. We are also working on using spaces between words when we write.
Math- We will review numbers and work on graphing.
Religion- We are learning how God created the Earth, and the different ways He shows us His love.

Things of Note:

School theme this year:
“My children, our love should not be just words and talk; it must be true love, which shows itself in action.”
1 John 3:18

A Reading Review came home in today’s folder. The Reading Review is due by the following Friday!

Thank you to everyone who attended the First Grade parent meeting! I hope the information you received was beneficial.
