Not too much longer!!

Schooltime is approaching quickly!! Most parents are shouting "Hooray" from the mountaintops; but, I can guarantee that most of our children will not admit that they are feeling ready for school to start! Here are a few important reminders for parents!

Upcoming events
August 9 is clean up day at IC. It is time spent getting the classrooms, school, and habitat in tip-top shape!
August 10 is new student orientation. If this is your child's first year at IC, be sure to attend!! You will get to come down to our classroom and visit with me, as well as Mrs. B!

Photo releases
After school begins, I will be sending home a photo release form. I love to take pictures of my students and post them in the room- it makes the children feel like they have ownership in the room, and makes them feel more "at home". I will have several places for you to check regarding photos. One will be for the school- as far as promoting school and classroom events. Another will be a general release for taking pictures to put in the classroom. The last one will be a release for any pictures that I may post on this blog. The pictures will not include names- only initials. If you are concerned about pictures being posted on our blog, please be sure and let me know! I will definitely understand!!

School supply reminder
Don't forget that I added one additional item to my classroom supply list: thin tip dry erase markers. We will use these during our Spelling/Word Building instructional time.
Items that DO NEED your child's name on each one:
scissors, folders, spiral notebooks, each individual marker, each individual crayon, pencil pouch.
If you ordered a tool box, I will send these items home on the first day for you to label. I can also check to see when the tool boxes will be at school, and if they are there early enough, you could come by school and label these items if you want to! Just get in touch with me and let me know!
Items that DO NOT need your child's name on them (because we share these items)
Dry erase markers, pencils, glue sticks, kleenex, wet wipes

I know that labeling each individual crayon and marker sounds crazy, but there are always crayons and markers that seem to escape from the desks and end up on the floor. It is very difficult to figure out who it belongs to without wasting class time! It is very helpful!! You can use a sharpie/permanent marker, small computer labels, or masking tape. You do not need to write your child's entire name- initials are fine.
